WHAT A HASSEL THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS HAVE BEEN..

What a hassle these past few months have been... It turned out to be quite a tough job to get to stable deliveries. Well, let’s just say it wasn’t great—more like a disaster!

We’re known for not making things easy for ourselves. Completely overhauling the deeply flawed coffee supply chain demands a lot from our team and our supporters. The reason your coffee was often late had many causes.

A hiccup in deliveries from our factory in Ethiopia, starting up a completely new FairChain route in Kenya (which, of course, doesn’t go perfectly right away), plus a massive growth spurt in the Netherlands and Ireland, and the first deliveries to teams in Germany and France. Yeah...

Producing in—and even more so, getting fresh deliveries from—the coffee-producing country itself requires a lot more planning than the BigCoffee model. To guarantee a stable supply, we always roast some in the Netherlands, but we certainly didn’t expect this scenario. Even during our Christmas dinner, we had to work in the brand-new FairChain Disruption Lab in Amsterdam (more about that in an upcoming blog).

“If you hadn’t been so affected by it, you could say ‘pretty cool’—those growing pains,”
said Guido, Moyee Founder.

We’re not completely through it yet, but in January, we expect a steady supply from our roasteries in Ethiopia and Kenya, which should allow us to provide you with a stable supply again (you’ll hear more about these major steps that we didn’t even have time to share in the next blog!)

Thank you for joining us on this journey. For the next month, we’ll include a choco-bar from TheOther.Bar with every order. Read more about it at theother.bar.

The FairChain movement keeps growing and growing. The choco-bar developed by FairChain and the United Nations is an experiment from which we’ll take lessons for Moyee’s plans for 2020 and beyond.

Keep you posted!
